Everyone had a roaring good time at Extravaganza- Roaring 20's: Flappers, Fedoras and FUNDing, sponsored by TiER1 Performance Solutions and Yelton Fine Jewelers. This 16th annual event and largest school fundraiser took place on April 8th at the elegant Oscar Event Center in Fairfield. Event Chairpersons Heather Kuth and Eleanor Garrow-Holding led an army of dedicated volunteers in transforming the venue to an MTCES speakeasy complete with themed photo booth, sponsored by PNC. Guests truly embraced the theme, attending the auction gala dressed as flapper and dapper guests.

As a result of successful live and silent auctions, and a variety of raffles, the gala raised about $98,000 for needs based tuition assistance, the outfitting of classrooms in the new academic wing, technology programs, and educational initiatives. One of the evening's highlights was when emcee Heather Kuth announced the winners of the First Choice Raffle: Brad and Liz Gosky. The Goskys had the opportunity to select a live auction item before any items were up for bids. They chose the coveted Reds suite for 16 people. We welcomed back our entertaining parent auctioneers Ed Larkin and Adam Proud who invited fellow parents Mike Brennan and Doug Healy to assist them with generating live auction bids. Amy Larkin was the proud winner of the Yelton Jewelry Heist, and went home with a diamond pendant valued at $4,900! The derBoghossian family won the Tuition Raffle.

MTCES enhanced this year's silent auction with the introduction of mobile bidding via smartphone/tablet. The web-based auction allowed for anyone with internet access to participate in the silent auction and monitor his bids from a hand-held device. Bidders received immediate notification if they were outbid on items they hoped to win. We are confident that there were "electronic bidding wars" over many items including a handcrafted bourbon barrel shelf, designer sunglasses and handbags, Yeti coolers, sporting event packages, and spa experiences.
