“I am not afraid. I was born to do this” (St. Joan of Arc):  2021-2022 School Year Theme

Every year, our 8^th grade students pick a theme for the school year.  In making the selection, we try to remember the legacy of our namesake – Mother Teresa. Of the many virtues of St. Teresa of Calcutta, tremendous faith and complete confidence in her God-given mission were two of her strongest gifts. These qualities are aptly honored with a quote from another saint – Joan of Arc:  “I am not afraid. I was born to do this”. Appropriately, this will be our theme. Our MTCES’ community will celebrate it throughout the coming year in the following ways:

• It will be highlighted at our first school Mass of September 2, and remembered periodically in our petitions at Mass and during our morning prayers.

• Our RAK volunteers will be decorating our building with the theme and offering activities for our students to celebrate it.
• An essay contest for the upper grades (4 through 8) and an art contest for the lower grades (K through 3) will help our students reflect on this message.
• Our Campus Minister Deacon Jerry Barney will provide our Catechists with a lesson plan/activity to help our students examine the life of St. Joan of Arc and how she embodied a fearless belief in God’s plan for her life.
• Deacon Jerry will also provide a family activity for use at home to remember St. Joan of Arc and her life at it relates to our theme.
